Outdoor Adventure Series

Run the loop. Clear the plates. Beat the clock.

A race where your legs and your trigger finger both have to show up. Cover the loop, come in breathing hard, and knock down five steel plates. Miss one and you run the penalty loop.

Date, entry fee and details are provisional while the first event is being planned.

The race

Loop, shoot, repeat.

1

Cover the loop

About one kilometre of marked course. Your wave starts on the clock, and the clock doesn't stop until you finish.

2

Come in to the line

Eye and ear protection on at the staging-area entrance. A range assistant puts you in order and calls you up when a spot opens.

3

Five plates, five rounds

One shot at each plate under the range officer's commands. A dud round doesn't count against you.

4

Clean, or pay for it

All five down and you're straight back out. Leave any standing and you run one penalty loop first.

5 stages in all, then a final loop to the finish: 6 loops, about 6 km with clean shooting. Fastest time wins; ties go to the most plates hit, then the fastest final loop.

RunSnowshoeCross-country ski

Each is ranked on its own, so runners race runners and skiers race skiers.

Safety first, clock second

The clock never overrides firearm safety.

Eye and ear protection

Required for every athlete from the moment you cross the staging-area entrance until you leave the range. You don't have to wear them out on the course, but have them on you.

Range officers run the line

Nobody loads, fires or leaves a firing position without the range officer's command. Stop means stop.

Firearms stay cold off the line

Loaded firearms never leave the firing line, and no ammunition goes out on the course.

Mandatory briefing

Every athlete attends the safety briefing before their wave. No briefing, no start.
